I am a New England artist with an abstract, expressionistic style. Born and raised in Springfield, MA, I received my Associates Degree from the Art Institute of Philadelphia, and began creating art to get my voice heard. Each piece tells a story and reflects my perspective on the subject matter or idea manifested in the work.
Primarily a pastel painter, my influences include Van Gogh, O'Keefe, Picasso, Warhol and Kincaid. I enjoy incorporating new techniques into my work as an homage to my favorite visual artists and musicians. Music is a huge catalyst for me as the right song can heavily influence the piece as it develops. Current work involves pieces based on an emotional reaction to situations, while former pieces show more subject-based work.
When not working in my studio, I enjoy getting outdoors and exploring the world around me; nature is a huge influence on current pieces. The green spaces of Springfield, MA was the main focus of my public art piece that helped raise funds for continuing arts projects in the area. I also find inspiration in anything passionate, whether it be a favorite cd, piece of art, or close family or friend.
With pieces in collections in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Florida and Texas, I have also exhibited in group and solo shows with great success. Other works have been featured on invitations and promotional materials, playbills, magazine covers and postcards.
